About Marie
Marie Hansen is an accomplished singer, pianist, and organist. She is a student at Brigham Young University’s School of Music, specializing in Music Education with an emphasis in Choral Studies. Marie participated in California’s Certificate of Merit Program for both voice and piano, in which she was trained and tested in music technique and theory. She sings in BYU’s renowned Women’s Chorus and has studied music under the world’s leading music professors and graduate students.
Piano Training
- Has played for 16 years
- Studied under teachers in Seattle, Southern California, Japan, and Utah
- Trained in Certificate of Merit (CM)
- Tested by the California State Music Teachers Association.
- Performed for the CM Board of Directors, received scores based on piano performance of baroque, classical, romantic, and contemporary pieces.
- Received a score of “excellent” in both theory testing and piano performance
- Qualified for the CM Branch Honors Recital
- Has accompanied for both large choirs and solo ensembles
- Taught students of all ages
Vocal Training
- Currently sings in Brigham Young University’s Women’s Chorus
- Currently studying at BYU’s renowned School of Music, majoring in Music Education with an emphasis in Choral Studies
- Trained in Certificate of Merit (CM) for vocal performance in California
- After significant training in the curriculum, passed tests on vocal technique, dictation, theory, and sight singing.
- Performed a wide range of musical genres with a focus on the classical for the CM Board of Directors.
- Qualified for the CM Branch Honors Recital for voice
- Has studied French, Italian, and German pieces.
